Canon EOS RP

Canons second mirrorless full frame camera, the EOS RP, is equipped with a 26 megapixel full-frame sensor and further supports 4K video, using the DIGIC 8 image processor. To achieve the very low MSRP, several compromises have been made – such as a lower resolution screen, EVF and smaller battery, compared to the EOS R.

The EOS RP achieves best burst speed with UHS-II memory cards, but these are not necessary at all. Thanks to the relatively slow burst speed of 5fps combined with a state-of-the-art memory card controller, it is possible to do continuous shooting with full speed until the memory card is (almost) filled! Filmmakers should, however, pay attention to an U3 or V30 classification, otherwise video recordings in 4K mode might interrupt. In our table, all 4K-capable memory cards are marked with a corresponding -logo.

Writing speed of the Canon EOS RP varies depending on the image file size. In our tests, a static test scene produced CR3 RAW images with 35 MB (±1 MB) average file size. Under other conditions, the write rates may in- or decrease significantly.
